Apartment Design

Client:

University Assessment

Brief:

In this brief I designed an apartment with a pre-determined floorplan and client. I had to design the living room dining room, and the bedroom. The clients wanted the space to be a sanctuary for them, where they can relax afte theit days at work, and entertain for family and friends.

I designed the space to be warm with natural finishes to it, including: Boucle fabric, stone, wood, quartz, and metal. They wanted warm lighting to help them relax and unwind at night, and also needed some space for existing pottery and posters they owned. I decided to separate this open concept apartment in to zones, to create some separation between relaxing, eating, entertaining, and sleeping.

Brief:

In this brief I was tasked to design a hotel and bar over 2 levels of a pre-defined building, based on an artist’s works. I chose Erin Nicholls’ work, with each bedroom being based off different artworks of hers.

I have included an image of the design of one of the hotel rooms furniture scheme. Which includes some of the artworks that inspired it, and will be featured in the room. I have also included the reception design scheme and downstairs floorplan, which is based off some of her japanese street-scape artworks.

Brief:

In this brief we were given a real client project, and were tasked to design a few rooms within the house of the client in teams. I was in a group of 4, and we were tasked to design the laundry (where we incorporated a powder room), bathroom, and living room.

You can see here some of the elements of the work I contributed to this project, including hand drawings, 3D sketchup views, chosen furniture, chosen finishes, and layout design.

Brief:

In this brief we were given a pre-made floorplan, where we had to design a kitchen within (as well as keeping space for a living room, and dining room). We got to choose our own clients and interview them.

Here I designed a kitchen with natural finishes (stone and wood), for a client who wanted th area to be central to entertaining. The client wanted to go all out with luxe finishes and appliances, to help them to cook, and serve dishes for their guests. This included a natural Quartz stone benchtop, stone backsplash, wooden cupboards, and even including a built in coffee maker.
